• GayFranchise.com was born in January 2007 to bridge the divide between progressive franchisors and the GLBT business segment.
It was like a bolt of lightening that struck one day when Echelon owners, Michael Lamb and Grant Courtney were discussing elements of the GLBT (Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual, Transgender) business community. There is no outlet that connects GLBT business professionals with the franchising industry!
With a couple of gasps and many long hours of researching and conferencing, GayFranchise.com was born in January 2007 to bridge the divide between progressive franchisors and the GLBT business segment. “We are constantly reviewing the economic potential from a macro view and are implementing a long term goal of overlaying the template from the minority and women business communities over our community,” stated Michael Lamb.
GayFranchise features a multi-tiered program to assist franchisors in developing a better relationship with the GLBT business community and exists as the only lead generator focused on this market. Through their online franchise directory, annual offline directory and The National GayFranchise Expo, GayFranchise.com maintains a professional vehicle that not only opens a new “out” environment and choice for those seeking business ownership, but let’s the brand aware Gay community recognize those gay-friendly franchise companies.
While most of their clients are mainstream franchisors including premier sponsors V2K Window Décor & More and PlanetBeach, AY Pages has emerged as one of the only Gay-owned master franchises in the business. “The brilliance of GayFranchise is the niche, it`s spectacular, first of its kind. It`s a perfect fit for marketing our franchise, AYPagesUS, the first franchised yellow page directory for the gay & gay friendly community. I have to say, it`s empowering to work with others that are bringing our community to the forefront of the business world,” noted Paula McDonald, CEO AYPagesUS, Inc.
“The GLBT business community has actually been around for over thirty years as judged by the tenure of some of our oldest Gay and Lesbian Chambers of Commerce. But as advances are being made both politically and economically towards equality, the workplace is becoming an increasingly open environment,” stated Co-Founder, Grant Courtney.
Business ownership can be an optimal choice for inspiring GLBT business professionals. “Our community possesses an `entrepreneurial personality` whereby their overall intelligence ratio skews higher than most groups, we understand the challenge of risk and most of us don`t have kids which gives us more time to grow our businesses,” commented Lamb.
GayFranchise.com is implementing the third phase of their marketing outreach in April of 2008 by hosting The National GayFranchise Expo. As part of the larger Original GLBT Expo, the franchise element will take over a portion of the floor to offer franchise opportunities to the projected 20,000 visitors that attend over the course of two days. “We are really breaking ground with our Expo by providing a deal-making forum that is destined to turn a lot of heads and get the innovative minds of GLBT business professionals in motion,” said Grant Courtney.
