• Social networks and public voting used to identify Guru for six-month position

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Following the launch of its new website, gaytravel.com announces the search for its first Gay Travel Guru - a travel enthusiast to city-hop, mingle, and report on the hottest gay destinations in North America. To launch the search, representatives from the site will visit nine cities across the U.S. for its Guru Launch Party Tour.

  • San Diego, CA - April 30
  • New York City, NY - May 7-10
  • Chicago, IL - May 13-14
  • Miami, FL - May 15
  • Boston, MA - May 20
  • Atlanta, GA - May 22
  • Los Angeles, CA – May 22
  • Las Vegas, NV – May 26
  • Los Angeles, CA - May 27
  • San Francisco, CA - May 29

From April 30 – August 1, interested applicants will write travel reviews, post photos, videos, tweets, and use word-of-mouth to demonstrate why they are the perfect candidate for the job. As the online resource for news about the most fabulous destinations in the world, gaytravel.com will use its own social community, Meet, other popular social networks such as Facebook and Twitter, public voting, and a questionnaire and job application to select its Gay Travel Guru.

Once selected, the appointed applicant, dubbed the “Gay Travel Guru,” will spend six months traveling across North America, sharing his/her adventures through social networks about how to “travel queer anywhere.” He/she will receive a salary equal to $30,000 for the six-month period, a stipend for each trip to cover meals and other miscellaneous costs, and company paid airfare, hotel stay and transportation.

During the 13-week application process, culture-connoisseurs across America are encouraged to apply through a series of rounds as gaytravel.com screeners and judges select the prime candidate for the job.

Applicants can participate beginning April 30th, and will find complete rules, details regarding each round, and learn more about the opportunity by visiting: www.gaytravel.com/guru. The name of the Gay Travel Guru will be announced on August 2. The job will begin soon thereafter.

Initial survey must be completed and submitted online at www.gaytravel.com/guru by June 5, 2010 to be considered. Open to residents of the fifty United States and the District of Columbia aged 25 years and older, eligible to work in the United States, and without any travel restrictions throughout North America.
