• Largest LGBT Fan Page Of Any Official Domestic or International Tourism Organization On The Social Networking Site

BOSTON, June 24, 2010. The Massachusetts Office of Travel + Tourism (MOTT), the state agency dedicated to promoting the Commonwealth as a leisure travel destination, today announced its LGBT Massachusetts Facebook fan page has surpassed the 10,000 ‘like’ or ‘Fan’ mark, making it the largest LGBT Facebook fan page (http://www.facebook.com/LGBT.Massvacation) by an official U.S. or world tourism organization on the social networking site. This milestone follows MOTT’s launch of its "LGBT Massachusetts iPhone Application," the first LGBT travel application launched for a U.S. domestic destination by a state tourism organization developed by Gay Consultants, Inc.

"10,000 people have found the LGBT Massachusetts Facebook page to learn about everything the state has to offer as well as another way to let LGBT visitors know ‘it’s all here for everyone’," said Betsy Wall, Executive Director of the Massachusetts Office of Travel + Tourism. "This is just another Commonwealth First for LGBT travelers and residents. We’re proud they find this site useful in planning Massachusetts Getaways.”

As LGBT Massachusetts breaks records, Pride 2010 commenced in Boston in June as the city marked the 40th anniversary of its annual Gay Pride Parade festivities. The state’s gay pride celebrations are bigger, stronger and more alive than ever this year with other highlights including: the 35th annual Worcester gay pride celebrations, the annual parade in the Berkshires and Provincetown’s Carnival themed “Jungle Fantasy”. For statewide Pride 2010 information and LGBT happenings all year long, travelers and residents should visit www.massvacation.com/rainbow and follow travel updates on MOTT's LGBT Twitter page:

http://twitter.com/lgbt_mass. The iPhone application is available for download on www.massvacation.com/rainbow or on iTunes at: http://tinyurl.com/ydr9q3w

With places like Boston, Provincetown, Martha's Vineyard, the mountains and resorts of the Berkshires, Massachusetts is as diverse as the people who visit it. There is something here for every traveler. As the first state to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, Massachusetts is still the leading state when it comes to "firsts" for the LGBT community. Its active marketing program is vital in reaching the LGBT community both nationally and internationally. The state continues to highlight its LGBT marketing message "it's all here for everyone" by connecting LGBT travelers to MOTT's dedicated LGBT microsite, blog, social media pages and now iPhone application as well as by hosting international LGBT events.
