• Four out of five respondents said they are actively engaged in LGBT networking events.
According to research performed by Evolved Employer, the think tank arm of The Glass Hammer, a career management website for women in financial and professional services, 83.3% of LGBT women respondents that they participate in internal or external LGBT networking events. Nevertheless, almost a third (28.9%) said their company did not have an LGBT network.
The release of the report follows a career management event specifically for lesbian professionals at the Goldman Sachs auditorium on Monday, February 6.
The research, backed by Goldman Sachs, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, and PwC, provides insight into the career challenges faced by LGBT women in the financial and professional services, as well as how they feel about the corporate environment in which they work.
Says Nicki Gilmour, Founder and CEO of Evolved Employer, “Much of the conversation around diversity is focused on broad gender-based comparisons, but we know that diversity is much more multifaceted than that. With our research series on managing identities, we hope to benchmark the perceived levels of organizational support for LGBT women, so that companies can understand how to better serve this talent population.“
